About the brand
Craft & Crumb

Kate and Louise are the founders of Craft & Crumb - they started their business 7 years ago from their kitchen tables and although they still work from home, they have a wonderful warehouse that allows them to operate their growing business in a way that gives them the space they need at home to focus on their kids. Being mums has always been at the core of their business.. it was why they started C&C in the first place and continues to always be at the heart of everything they do. No product or decision gets decided or developed without looking at their own experience as parents and every new kit is tested by their own very harsh critics (their 5 kids!!).

Sustainability

Sustainability

Craft & Crumb embrace the opportunity to be environmentally and socially responsible whilst delivering joy to their customers. This commitment is at the heart of all they strive to achieve in their business.

Reduction of plastic

The amount of single or limited use plastic toys and novelties given to children in a party bag or as a gift troubled Craft & Crumb and they knew there was a better way forward. The foundation and ethos of their business is to produce environmentally sustainable gifting solutions. Their mission is to provide families with opportunities to create and bake memories, not landfill.

Sourcing sustainable packaging & recycling

Craft & Crumb love their packaging. Not only are they proud of how it looks, but it is also doing everything possible to reduce their carbon footprint. The instructional leaflets are curbside recyclable. The corrugated cardboard in the packaging is recyclable and compostable and sustainably certified. The Kraftpak boxes are recyclable and compostable and sustainably certified.

Craft & Crumb are committed to reducing the plastic wrapping and waste in all their kits. Wherever there is a non-plastic option, they have embraced it. All plastic wrapping used for their cake and biscuit mixes will be compostable by 2021. All non-recyclable plastic from external suppliers is kept to a minimum and they are dedicated to contributing a percentage of profit to environmental charities to offset their carbon footprint from these elements. Their packaging sustainability is a key business priority. They are continually striving to enhance their current practices and will be investigating all future innovations for viability.

Sustainable sourced quality ingredients

Craft & Crumb produce all their own cake and biscuit mixes using locally produced and natural raw ingredients. They ensure that they use organic produce where possible and their cake and biscuit mixes are all produced with a “no hidden additives, preservatives or ‘nasties’” guarantee.

They are committed to employ a ‘zero food waste’ policy as all their kits are supplied with exact measurements required for each activity to be completed. Where they source items externally, they choose their partners very carefully. They must share their beliefs for a sustainable future and have achieved the relevant sustainability certifications. Craft & Crumb choose to work with companies that are committed to reducing their carbon footprint and are RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) certified where all palm oil is sourced entirely from sustainable farming.

Big picture thinking

Craft & Crumb believe in not only serving their wonderful customers but the world around them. They work with non-profit organisations such as the Rainbow Trust and they support a number of local schools and charities. To Craft & Crumb, sustainability is more than just taking care of their environment, it’s also about caring for animals, local community and employing a responsive and empathic philosophy for the world around us.

Animal welfare

Craft & Crumb’s animal welfare standards are as high as their commitment to providing you with quality products. Where possible, they recommend using eggs that are free-range and choosing organic & cruelty free honey, milk and butter products. Their externally sourced decorating items in their kits are either palm oil free or RSPO certified where palm oil is sourced from sustainable farming practices.
