Sustainability

Ross & Ross Gifts believe sustainability is about making thoughtful choices wherever possible — from the ingredients they source to the packaging they use and how their products are delivered.

They work with small, often family-run suppliers who share their values, sourcing ingredients as locally as possible and choosing British suppliers wherever they can. Food waste is kept to a minimum through careful ingredient measuring, composting food and garden waste, and finding useful second lives for by-products wherever possible.

Their packaging is primarily glass and cardboard, with recyclable and responsibly sourced materials used wherever possible. Hampers are packed with recycled shredded paper, while spare cardboard is shredded and reused as protective packaging. Ross & Ross Gifts continually review their packaging and work with suppliers to find more sustainable alternatives, particularly where plastic is currently needed for food safety or product protection.

Sustainability is also considered throughout their cooking and production. They use sustainably sourced charcoal, natural briquettes and wood for smoking, while some of their suppliers make use of by-products such as oil husks for animal feed and biofuel.

Ross & Ross Gifts are also committed to supporting reforestation. They have planted trees through the Woodland Trust and partnered with Ecologi to plant a tree with every order.

Their team works remotely wherever possible, helping to reduce unnecessary journeys, while digital meetings and e-invoicing reduce paper use and travel. They have also changed their distribution methods to reduce smaller deliveries and offer carbon-neutral shipping through their partnership with Planet.

They recognise that there is always more to do. Sustainability is an ongoing journey for Ross & Ross Gifts, and they continue to review their products, packaging, suppliers and processes to make more responsible choices for the future.
