Hell’s Stone whisky is made in Cornwall by Pocketful of Stones Distillery. Their whisky-making process starts with creating the best possible craft beer, a beer that you would love to drink and that would not be out of place on tap at the best craft beer bars in the world. Next they distil using Jackson, their handmade copper pot still. Finally, the young whisky is aged in used oak barrels in the shadow of St Michael’s Mount.

Legend tells of the devil’s ambitions to take Cornwall for himself. One day while looking out to the east the archangel St Michael caught sight of a fire breathing dragon flying directly towards Cornwall possessed by the devil himself. The dragon carried a red hot boulder in its claws right from the fires of hell, a legendary aerial battle ensued. Armed with a sword of pure fire St Michael struck the dragon a mighty blow. Through the sky the stone tumbled and the place where is fell became known as Hell’s Stone or Helston. To this day the villagers celebrate the victory of their patron saint and it holds a special place in local folklore.

About the brand
Pocketful of Stones

From behind the bar, to the distillery and back to the bar. That, in short, is the Pocketful of Stones story. We’d love to share an elaborate, well-structured story with you here about how everything we’ve done led to this point. The truth is that we all worked and lived together in bars in central London. We made loads of friends, had lots of fun, and created all kinds of memories – most of which we can’t talk about on the website. Maybe, more importantly, we all learned lots and lots about spirits and fell in love with their rich history. Abandoning the crowds of London for the wilds of Cornwall, we are pouring all that experience into Pocketful of Stones. Here, we invite you to join in our journey…
